Pumpkaboo reverse holo from The Best of XY, the 2017 Japanese compilation set that brought together highlights from across the entire XY era into one collection. Pumpkaboo is a Ghost/Grass type introduced in Generation VI, based on a jack-o'-lantern pumpkin. It has one of the more unusual gimmicks in the franchise: it comes in four different sizes (Small, Average, Large, and Super Size), each with slightly different stats. The Super Size form has noticeably higher HP but is slower. The size is determined randomly when encountered in the wild and can't be changed, making it a quirky detail that most players don't even notice unless they're paying attention to the subtle sprite differences. Its lore is wonderfully creepy for such a cute design. According to the Pokédex, Pumpkaboo is said to carry wandering spirits to the place where they belong, guiding them to the afterlife. It's born from the spirits of the departed that become trapped in pumpkins, and the light that flickers inside its body is said to be the glow of those restless souls. It evolves into Gourgeist through trade, which continues the Halloween theme with an even more unsettling Pokédex entry about singing eerie songs under the new moon.
