Sylveon VMAX Character Super Rare from VMAX Climax (s8b), released in December 2021. Character Super Rares were introduced in this set and became an instant hit with collectors. They combine the full art VMAX treatment with a trainer character from the games appearing alongside the Pokémon. This card features Sylveon with its trainer, making it one of the most sought-after CSRs in the set alongside the Umbreon VMAX CSR. VMAX Climax was the high-class set that closed out 2021 for the Japanese TCG, and it essentially pioneered the Character Rare concept at the VMAX level. The set was hugely successful, establishing the template that VSTAR Universe would follow a year later. Many of these cards were later adapted for the English-language Brilliant Stars Trainer Gallery subset, though the Japanese originals remain more popular with collectors. Sylveon is the Fairy-type Eeveelution (reclassified as a normal Fairy type in the TCG's current era), introduced in Generation VI. It evolves from Eevee through high affection and knowing a Fairy-type move. Its design is based on a combination of a sylph (a mythological air spirit) and the ribbons and bows of a traditional fairy-tale aesthetic. According to the Pokédex, it wraps its ribbon-like feelers around the arm of its trainer and walks alongside them, using a soothing aura from those feelers to calm conflicts and quell hostile emotions. Of all the Eeveelutions, Sylveon is arguably the most popular among collectors, consistently commanding a premium on chase cards from any set it appears in.
