Celebi & Venusaur GX Secret Rare from Tag Bolt (SM9), released in December 2018. This was the set that introduced TAG TEAM GX cards to the Pokémon TCG, a mechanic that paired two Pokémon together on a single card with massively boosted HP and powerful attacks. Tag Bolt was the first set to feature these dual cards, and Celebi & Venusaur was one of the headliners. The SR version features a full art illustration with a lush, botanical aesthetic that suits both Pokémon perfectly. The pairing of Celebi and Venusaur makes thematic sense. Both are deeply connected to nature and plant life. Venusaur is one of the original starter evolutions from Generation I, carrying a massive flower on its back that absorbs sunlight. Celebi is the Mythical time-travelling guardian of forests from Generation II, known as the "Voice of the Forest" after the fourth Pokémon film. Together they represent two different generations united by their shared role as protectors of the natural world. TAG TEAM cards were a defining feature of the late Sun & Moon era and became some of the most collected modern cards. The mechanic added a strategic twist: TAG TEAM GX Pokémon gave up three prize cards when knocked out instead of two, making them high risk as well as high reward. Their GX attacks often had bonus effects if extra energy was attached, encouraging players to commit fully to the strategy.
